Shelley was born and raised in Oklahoma. She grew up in a single parent home in rural Oklahoma, in a town with no stop signs, and until recent years, no people of color.
Shelley moved to Tulsa after high school and quickly found her world views in question. After enrolling at the local community college, she realized that she was going to be vocal about issues of oppression, equality, and human rights. Shortly after enrolling in college, she entered into a career in law enforcement her world views were further challenged.
Through her career in law enforcement, coupled with her up bringing, Shelley realized there were many issues at play her community that were racially driven.
She wanted to make a difference, so she partnered with Baxter, the founder of #racismstinks, and the rest is history!
Shelley has an associates of liberal arts from Tulsa Community College and is pursing a bachelor's of science from Oklahoma State University. She is majoring in political science with a double major in sociology. She aspires to attend law school at the University of Tulsa after completing her bachelor's degree.
